NORWEH Structures

Sizes: Always measured in feet from outside post to outside post

Finish: CUTEK® Stain

Height: 8′ 1/2″ internal height to the beam, 13′ 7¹/₂” to the top of the roof

Pitch: 6:12 (26 degrees)

Overhang: The roof overhangs about 14″ past the post

Material: All wood in Douglas Fir Grade No. 1 Structural

Snow Load: 1-2 feet of snow

Roof: 2×6 tongue and groove roof boards included. These come as lengths and must be cut to during installation.

*Excluded: Shingles or metal for the roof is not included. Most customers choose something to match their property. A local roofing company can do this easily.

*Excluded: Post base brackets are not included. The most common footer is to anchor the post to Sonotube concrete footers. We recommend Ozco Post Base Brackets for $133 per bracket. Another popular footer is the screw piles fitted with a saddle and no need for additional brackets.

Footers & Foundations

Every NORWEH Pavilion starts with one thing: a strong, stable foundation. We offer two trusted options for footings — both built to stand up to time, weather, and the test of craftsmanship. All footings are recommended to set below the frost line (typically 4ft) so the ground beneath stays stable year-round, preventing shifting or frost heave.

Option 1: Concrete Sonotube Footers

  • 16″ wide x 4 ft deep Sonotube

  • Concrete-filled and surface-mounted brackets for anchoring

  • Ideal for standard backyard installations and DIY-friendly builds

  • Recommend pairing with Ozco Post Base Brackets for $133 per bracket

  • Average cost per footer $250-$400

Option 2: Screw (Helical) Piles

  • Installed below frost line using specialized equipment

  • Includes pre-mounted saddles for NORWEH posts

  • Minimally invasive — no digging, no concrete

  • Perfect for tight access areas or softer soils

  • Average cost per footer $300-$450

Permits & Engineer Drawings

After purchasing your pavilion or pergola, we provide architectural drawings with dimensions, post layouts, roof elevations, and material specifications. You can have these stamped by a certified engineer in your state or use our engineer stamping service (about $800), which applies local wind, snow, and seismic load requirements and delivers permit-ready drawings in 5–7 business days. With stamped drawings, you can apply for a permit, and if revisions are needed, we’ll coordinate with the engineer. Since permit requirements vary, check with your local office early—we’re here to help throughout the process.

Budgeting Your Project

When planning your NORWEH Pavilion, it helps to budget for all the major components beyond the kit itself. Here’s an example for a 12×16 2 Gable Pavilion (about 310 sq ft of roof area).

1. Roofing

  • Shingles: $4–$7 per sq ft installed ($1,200–$2,200 DIY)

  • Metal panels: $7–$12 per sq ft installed ($2,200–$3,700)

  • Budget Estimate: around $2,500 based on $8/sq ft for a mid-range material + labor.

2. Installation

  • Professional install: around $4,000-$5,000

  • DIY installation can save labor costs, but we recommend experienced help for best results.

3. Foundation Options (choose one)

  • Concrete sonotube footers: around $2,000 with brackets. ($250–$400 each footer, Ozco post bases at $133 per bracket *not included in kit)

  • Screw (helical) pile footers: around $1,800 ($300–$450 each pile, pre-mounted saddles included with pile)

4. Engineer Drawings (if needed for permits)

  • Around $800 for an engineer stamp tailored to your property.

Example Total (12×16 2 Gable Pavilion)

  • Roofing: $2,500

  • Install: $4,000

  • Sonotube Foundation & Brackets: $2,000

  • Engineer Stamp: $800

  • Total: around $9,300 plus the cost of the pavilion kit.

We use CUTEK® Stain, the best-in-class wood protection oil, to keep your Douglas Fir structure looking beautiful for decades—without the typical headaches of wood maintenance.

Unlike regular stains that just coat the surface, CUTEK® penetrates deep into the wood, protecting it from the inside out. This means no peeling, flaking, or cracking—just rich, natural beauty that lasts.

It’s designed for extreme weather and works with the wood, not against it. All you need is a light recoat every 2–3 years to maintain color, or let it naturally silver over time while staying protected. You don’t have to worry about over-applying, the stain will just absorb into the wood and you’ll enjoy doing it!

✅ Stops moisture damage
✅ Prevents warping and splitting
✅ Easy maintenance (no sanding or stripping!)
✅ Highlighting the wood’s natural grain
