How much does it cost to have a roofing contractor finish my pavilion roof?
Once your NORWEH pavilion kit is assembled and the T&G roof deck is in place, you’ll need a roofing contractor to apply the finished weather surface. Here’s what to budget:
Cost by material (12×16 pavilion, approx 310 sq ft of roof area):
- Architectural asphalt shingles – $1,500–$2,800 installed; most economical option; matches most homes; 25–30 year lifespan
- Standing seam metal roofing – $2,500–$4,500 installed; premium look; 40–50 year lifespan; excellent snow and rain shedding; worth the premium for long-term ownership
- Exposed fastener metal panels – $1,800–$3,200 installed; more affordable than standing seam; very durable; popular in rural and farm-style aesthetics
- Cedar shakes – $3,000–$5,500 installed; premium natural aesthetic; requires more maintenance than metal or shingles
Tips for working with roofing contractors:
- Get at least 3 quotes — roofing prices vary significantly by contractor and region
- Ensure the contractor is comfortable with small accessory structure projects (not all residential roofers take on smaller jobs)
- Ask specifically about flashing and drip edge — these details are critical for long-term performance
- Coordinate timing: have your kit fully assembled before the roofer arrives
For larger pavilion sizes, add approximately $8–$14 per additional square foot of metal, or $4–$8 per additional square foot of shingles.
