Key Specifications & Technical Details

Key Features

  • Wind resistance: The four-sided slope deflects wind from all directions and distributes pressure evenly across the structure.
  • Self-bracing frame: The four roof planes brace against each other through the hip rafters, creating a naturally triangulated structure.
  • Four-sided drainage: Water and snow run off all four planes toward uniform eaves around the full perimeter.
  • Heat release at the peak: The vented upper tier gives trapped ceiling heat a constant exit path.
  • Roof Load: Pitched slopes on all four sides clear snow loads off the roof on their own.
  • Even load distribution: Weight spreads to all four posts through the hip rafter geometry.
  • Symmetrical silhouette: All four sides are equal, giving the structure a balanced look from every angle.
  • Airflow for grills and outdoor kitchens: Smoke, steam, and cooking heat rise into the upper tier and exit through the vents.

Included in your kit:

  • Pre-stained Douglas Fir structure
  • Full roof deck (2×6 T+G boards, unstained)

Footers & Foundations

Every NORWEH Pavilion starts with one thing: a strong, stable foundation. We recommend two trusted options for footings — both built to stand up to time, weather, and the test of craftsmanship. All footings are recommended to set below the frost line (typically 4ft) so the ground beneath stays stable year-round, preventing shifting or frost heave. Click here for more details regarding footers and foundations.

Option 1: Concrete Sonotube Footers

Option 2: Screw (Helical) Piles

Option 3: Concrete Pad

CUTEK® Wood Protection

We use CUTEK® Stain, the best-in-class wood protection oil, to keep your Douglas Fir structure looking beautiful for decades—without the typical headaches of wood maintenance.

Unlike regular stains that just coat the surface, CUTEK® penetrates deep into the wood, protecting it from the inside out. This means no peeling, flaking, or cracking—just rich, natural beauty that lasts.

It’s designed for extreme weather and works with the wood, not against it. All you need is a light recoat every 2–3 years to maintain color, or let it naturally silver over time while staying protected. You don’t have to worry about over-applying, the stain will just absorb into the wood and you’ll enjoy doing it!

✅ Stops moisture damage
✅ Prevents warping and splitting
✅ Easy maintenance (no sanding or stripping!)
✅ Highlighting the wood’s natural grain

Disclaimer: Stain colors shown are approximate and may vary from the final result. Actual appearance will differ based on timber grain pattern, texture, lighting conditions, and weathering over time.

NORWEH Components

Here you can see how easy the structure is to assemble. With clearly defined parts, each piece fits seamlessly, allowing for quick and efficient assembly while maintaining strength and durability. The thoughtful design ensures a smooth setup process without compromising quality.

The LT model uses a simplified bolt connection — a straightforward, sturdy design that ensures long-lasting strength and stability, maintaining the clean, refined style of our pavilions.

The HT model connects the posts and beams connect with a traditional mortise-and-tenon joint — stronger, cleaner, and easier to install than the typical use of bolts. Simply slide the beam down into the pocket.

Snow Load of 40lbs/sqft which is comparable to 2-3 feet of snow and built to withstand the toughest winters.

Are cracks in the wood normal?

Our timber frame pavilions are crafted from real wood, so natural checking, cracking, twisting, shrinkage, and movement are expected as the timber dries and acclimates over time.
